The Scientific Authority (SA) of CITES in China is Endangered Species Scientific Commission, P.R.China (ESSC, P.R.C) .
ESSC is affiliated to the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
There are currently 29 members with different backgrounds such as botanist, ichthyologists, herpetologists, ornithologists, mammalogists, geneticists, administrators, ecologists, behaviorists, etc., who have expertise on species of different taxonomic groups of interest to CITES. ESSC also has a Consulting Specialist Pool of more than 60 members.
